Stockholm is located in the middle of Scandinavia. It is also the centre for business and cultural life in Scandinavia. Stockholm is considered a green, clean and friendly city and is beautifully located on the shores of the Baltic Sea.

 

     Largest city. Stockholm County contains 20 percent of Swedens total population. In the end of 2007 the County had 1,95 million inhabitants. City of Stockholm is the most populated area with 795,163 inhabitants.


     Green city. Stockholm is considered a “green” city.  The county has no less than 219 nature reserves and the closest one is just a 10-minute subway ride from the city centre. The city has about 1,000 parks, which make up approximately 30 percent of the city’s area.


     Clean environment. Stockholm is considered to have one of the cleanest environments among the capitals in Europe. The water is so clean you can go fish in the centre of the city.

Stockholm has five international airports, all easily accessible from Stockholm Central station, the largest one being Arlanda. Public transport in Stockholm serves the entire county with train, subway and bus service. 


     Forefront. Stockholm is one of the most IT-intensive capitals in the world. The infrastructure for mobile and land based sound, image and data communication is world class.


      Innovative. Stockholm is one of the most knowledgable regions in The world. According to  World Knowledge Competitiveness Index 2008 Stockholm is number six in the world, and the only european region among the top ten, the list is dominated by North America. Stockholm has advanced two places since the last study. 145 regions in 19 countries are studied.
