Trainee appointments signal continued growth for ambitious law firm

Growing South Wales law firm Harding Evans has appointed four new trainee solicitors to strengthen key specialist teams across its operation.

The Newport - based practice has promoted paralegal staff, Lloyd Williams, Sara Haf Uren, Ben Jenkins and Siobhan Downes to the trainee positions and will be supporting them through to their full professional qualification.

Lloyd, who is joining the firm’s highly-rated personal injury team, has studied at both Cardiff and Swansea universities and is a keen sportsman who has competed in the London to Paris cycle race.

Exeter graduate Sara, who has also studied law at Cardiff, is originally from Port Talbot and is a fluent Welsh speaker who has competed in the National Eisteddfod. She will be involved in the firm’s widely-respected medical negligence work.

Ben, an avid football player who studied at Cardiff University, is joining Harding Evans’ litigation department, focusing on the growing field of dispute resolution.

Keen linguist Siobhan, from Caerleon near Newport, studied at both Cardiff and Swansea universities and is joining the firm’s criminal law team.

The appointments represent a major investment by the firm in its future, despite the current pressures created by the economic downturn.

David Morgan, partner responsible for trainee solicitor recruitment said: “All four trainees have solid paralegal experience with Harding Evans. We recognised their potential to become excellent lawyers and are delighted to support them in developing their careers at a time when many law firms are reducing trainee solicitor numbers.”

Harding Evans employs 130 staff, including over 70 fee-earners, and has a strategy to double in size over five years as it serves a growing number of corporate and private Clients across South Wales.
